The Call-A-Ride Program is a transit service offered by local taxi and sedan companies who are partnered with the Maryland Transit Administration. In order to participate in the Call-A-Ride program, individuals must first be MTA-certified Mobility-Link customers and then apply for Call-A-Ride ridership. The MTA Mobility-Link service Baltimore city/county residents who “are functionally unable to get to a bus stop, wait unassisted at a stop or station or board or ride a bus or train by themselves.” If you are not currently MTA Mobility-Link certified, visit here to find out if you’re eligible and how to apply.
The MTA cannot guarantee the availability or pick-up times of taxi cabs or sedan companies. The Call-A-Ride service is available within three quarters (¾) of a mile of any Local route in Baltimore City and Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties and within three quarters (¾) of a mile radius of a Light Rail or Metro Subway station. This does not include MARC Train or Commuter Bus routes.

How it Works

Book your ride with partnered taxi and sedan companies at least 40 minutes in advance of desired pick-up. A list of the participating taxi and sedan companies as well as their contact information can be found here. To book your ride, call the number of the desired taxi/sedan company and provide the accurate pick-up and drop off information to the dispatch operator. Vehicles that accommodate wheelchairs are limited so it is recommended to call at least 24 hours in advance. As you get on the requested taxi/sedan, you must present your MTA Call-A-Ride ID. Cost

Call-A-Ride riders are allotted 62 rides per month. For each one-way ride, the cost, which can be paid in cash when the driver arrives, is a flat $3.00 so long as the fare amount is below $40.00. If the displayed fare amount is above $40.00, you will have to pay the difference along with the flat $3.00 fee. If you have exhausted the 62 rides per month limit, you must pay the full fare.

Eligibility

There are only two eligibility criteria
  1. Must be a MTA Mobility customer
  2. Must be at least 13 years old
